Another fairly pleasant day at home, but for a couple of frustrations. I wanted to make some biscuits this morning, and it turned into a bit of a disaster. The "basic biscuit" recipe in the Edmonds cookbook turned out to be pretty hideous. It was super-dry and not very tasty, and it took me about a million goes before I could roll it out reasonably well. Afte rmuch grinding of teeth and muttered curses, eventually I ended up with these pale, dessicated and rather unappetizing things. Reb suggested that I ice them, so I did (lemon icing, because I was feeling bitter LOL) and they turned out OK. I called them "frustration biscuits".
Second item of frustration... the camera has decided to be dead again today. Grrr.
Made some lemonade which was well yummy.
Freya was quite amusing last night... she took a while to go to sleep, and when I went in she was lying across her pillow, cuddling her big pink pig. I moved the pig, and gently pulled her legs around. She stirred a bit but then went straight to sleep.
She ended up in our bed about 3 am, and was a wriggly worm. In her sleep she said "wet hands!" and "no I don't want to!" and laughed a bit as well... funny wee chick.
Hot day today, mid to high twenties. Lots of pollen is giving me a bit of hay fever. The garden is looking nice (apart from the GIGANTIC weeds), all the trees have lots of flowers, the grasses are big & bushy, and the succulents out the front are completely covered in pink blossoms. Very nice.
