Bit of a strange day today. There is some back-story which I will hopefully get around to filling in with some retrospective posting, but the short version is that over the last few weeks a couple of things happened which were kinda annoying.
The first was that Freya lost one of her toys, a funny little dog that she had picked up at one of the op shops. It was only 50c or something so we could hardly say no! Anyway, it turned into the toy of the week, and even had a name (Rosie) within about an hour! Rosie went everywhere, going to creche every day, and then... DISASTER!!! It was really strange actually. Rosie was on the dining room table one minute, and gone the next. Freya didn't seem to know where she was, although she wasn't very upset we couldn't find her, which was probably a bit odd. We looked more and more as the days passed, and eventually resigned ourselves to Rosie turning up at random in the distant future. Perhaps stray black hole from the LHC had gobbled her up. Then this morning we heard a commotion, and Freya yelled "I found Rosie!" and sure enough, there she was in her spotty glory. Freya had put her in an old teapot "because she was scared" or something like that! We were all very pleased to find her again. Next time I've lost something I'll remember to check Reb's old teapot.
The other tragedy was that our lovely digital camera bit the dust. Freya loves to use it (she actually has the hang of pointing it and pressing the button) and she brought it to show me what she had done. Unfortunately, it slipped out of her hands and whacked down on the tiles, and promptly went dead. It had a couple of moments of activity (which I thought were just death throes) as it managed to retract the lens before shutting down again. It sat forlornly on my desk for a week or two, and then today I was just about to get medieval on it with my fine screwdrivers when I though I should check it again, and bling, on it goes. I took some pictures and it all seems to be OK... fingers crossed it will stay that way.
Apart from those weird happenings it was a pretty good day. Reb is somewhat housebound due to being on after-hours support, so we did heaps of gardening and tidying, and we both played with Freya and read lots of books. Washed Bomb and picked up the patched tyre from the garage. Nice not to be rushing around trying to do too many things!
